A little bit about us :
Christy and Jasen met during a photography convention back in January of 2009. Jasen appealed to Christy as the man with the techie camera equipment, and Christy grabbed Jasen with her spunky, sweet personality. When they connected again the following February at yet another photography convention, they knew it was something that couldn’t be ignored. So just a few month’s later they teamed up to photograph a charity event for U-Mom of Phoenix Arizona . . . it was then that everything clicked and they knew being apart just wasn’t an option. So Christy moved to Phoenix, they both gave up their independent photography business, and became Studio Moirae.
Through their combined talents, Studio Moirae creates a look that is both modern yet vintage. Together they walk the lines of classic and edgy with a mixture of both artificial and natural light. Besides the pride they have in their artistic work, one of Studio Moirae’s biggest accomplishments is the relationships they have built with their clients. More often than not, it’s the same clients that have shared their special moments and events with Studio Moirae that end up becoming life long friends.
Jasen’s background started in architecture. Working in the design field, he developed an eye for lighting and artistic compositions. Unlike Christy who finds photography through emotion, Jasen see’s it through lines, shadows and a dramatic vision. He often has that new techie toy and is always looking for the next big event to be a part of.
For Christy, photography has been a special part of her life for over 15 years now. She found that passion at a young age and simply had no desire to pursue anything else. Her inspiration in photography started with newborns, children and families. It’s those same inspirations that became even more focused in November of 2010 after becoming a Mother herself. She’s absolutely adores to catch those moments and details that only a Mother can appriciate.
Piven, their son, is photographed on a daily if not hourly basis. There isn’t a growing pain he goes through that isn’t captured and saved. It’s those moments that will be cherished and remembered for years to come.
Nick Harper was added to the gang at the beginning of 2011. Studio Moirae was growing fast, and they needed someone talented and trustworthy to add to the team. That’s when they found Nick. After Studio Moirae photographed his family session and found out about his mutual passion for photography, Nick was added to the team as their first associate photographer. Nick loves the outdoors and spending time with his children; often 4-Wheeling and taking in the sights of northern Arizona. Just like Jasen, Nick not only has a background in the architectural industries, but also has roots in the Reno Tahoe area of northern Nevada. Nick has become an invaluable part to the Studio Moirae team and also leads the local Photogs Unleashed Group. If you are an aspiring photographer, you must check it out sometime.
